Winchester last night

Postby mark c » Wed Jul 28, 2010 7:44 am

A very young Hawks side made up of Academy players and a couple of trialists went down 4-1 at Winchester City last night.

after a decent start in which we probably should have scored City grabbed the lead after 35 minutes only for the young Hawks to equakise on the stroke of half time through Liam Cresswell (I think) !!!

in the second half a far more expirienced City side took control and deservedly grabbed three more goals helped by the sending off of one of our subs for a trip so reckless Ben Fogle would have turned it down.

dispite the result there were some encouraging signs from the likes of Harvey White, Alex Baldachino and Liam Sewell.

the only trialist I got a name for was Louis Castles !!!!, nothing had changed in the last 18 months imo !!!!!

So if this game featured no first team players, do we still classify it as a first team friendly? or should I move it on the fixture lists to the academy? last season academy/trialist games (like the Alton one) went down as academy games.

Having spoken to Trev I've moved Winchester and Horndean to the academy section - both games are now classified as reserve/academy matches.

its easy. If we win its a first team friendly, if we get belted by a pub team its a reserve/academy kick around. Never fails.
