I don't understand this , I understand why the Winchester game is only an "X1" surely by next saturday everyone will be recovered enough to play again ?

does this mean that in the final fortnight leading up to the league season we will play just ONE game ?

seems a bit odd and tbh unhelpful to me.

A number of players are carrying minor knocks and need a few days off to recover , i think they will be in for a light training session saturday but 4 games in 5 days has taken its toll . not to mention 2 very tough days training as well , each and every player gave his all in devon and the bashley game would have been a game too far for the 1st team squad at this early stage

my concern is that now we run a bit of a chance of going into the season slightly under prepared.

I thought pre season was about getting MATCH fit I can't see how 1 game in the fortnight leading up to the season is going to help that.

that's all before we get a caning on Bashley's board and in their local press for being big time charlies and showing them no respect, it's not the first time we've pulled out of games against them , its a pity because they seem to be about the only "local" club who don't seem to have a huge great chip on their shoulder about us.

A pity. I've seen their forum and think that if we were in Bashley shoes and had a friendly like this called off at short notice, we'd be quite narked about it.
